Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Even Heroes Have to Die
Today’s track comes from Ted Leo’s upcoming Matador release, “The Brutalist Bricks”. Ted Leo is one of those unnaturally consistent artists that has produced so many great records this decade that it’s hard not to take him for granted. In addition to his amazing recording output, he also has the live energy of a man half his age, even allowing me to come up on stage once to sing a blistering cover of ‘Suspect Device’. ‘Even Heroes Have to Die’ finds Ted Leo back in power-pop mode, which has always been one of his greatest strengths. It’s always comforting when it seems a new genre of music is being invented every month to keep things “fresh”, that so much feeling and power can still be created with only a guitar, bass, drums, and heart.
