Jay Electronica - Exhibit C
Jay Electronica, husband of Erykah Badu, has been quietly making a name for himself in the hip-hop world through the slow and deliberate leak of tracks through various, obscure channels. It’s easy to be suspect of an artist who appears to be more concerned with his marketing than releasing albums/mixtapes, but one listen to this track will quickly leave you wanting more, regardless of how it’s released. The beat is certainly the star of this track, with Just Blaze using an old 1967 Billy Stewart track, Cross My Heart, stretched and looped to its limit. Jay Electronica doesn’t allow the beat to steal the whole show though, by rhyming with the confidence of a man who has been in the game for years about his rise from living on the streets to getting hit up by Nas to appear on his album.
